Please pray for Father Lionel Sham

I would like all who visit this blog to pray for one of the priests of our Archdiocese, Father Lionel Sham. He has been missing for over 24 hours. The details are not entirely clear but it is suspected that he was hijacked (carjacked) and, apparently, some valuables (not clear from where) have been stolen. In South Africa, this is not a good scenario.

Please hold this priest in your prayers.

Our Queen, our Mother, we give Father Sham entirely to you, and to show our devotion to you we consecrate to you this day his eyes, his ears, his mouth, his heart, himself without reserve, as he is you own, our good Mother, guard and protect him, as your property and your possession.

He was my uncle and my dads brother. He left behind 2 brothers and a sister and many other family members and I just want all to know that he was not only the strong hold of our family but of many families and will be missed more than words can say. I love you uncle Lionel and know someday we will meet again in Jesus arms. R I P

I am shocked at the brutal death of such a wonderful priest. I worked in th same office as Fr. Lionel in the Diocesan Chancery for 10 years. He was a friend to so many people and was well loved by all. he will be sorely missed.
may you rest in peace Lionel

Father Sham was a wonderful Priest, he baptised my son who was the son of a youth he helped at Boys Town. He is forever in our thoughts and family memories as a wonderful, special person who had all the attributes of someone holy. He is in our prayers

I remember Fther Sham very well. During my time working at the Catholic Diocese he was very supportive and an inspiration. After my time there he was a gentle friend on many occasions, including when I left I catholic church. What a peaceful man. Perhaps he just wasn't meant to experience anything that is yet to come. May all his sins be forgiven and may he find only peace in the hand of our Creator.

Living on Madeira Island I have just received the shocking news of Father Lionel. I worked with him for 2 years as a refugee coordinator at the JHB Diocese in the early 90's and grew to love this wonderful and kind man who was not only my boss but also my mentor and taught me alot about unconditional love and kindness. I am so saddened by this tragic end. May his soul rest in peace.
